Blues is the name given to both a musical form and a music genre created within the African-American communities in the Deep South of the United States at the end of the 19th century from spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts and chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads.The blues form which is ubiquitous in jazz. Blues has been accused of being the "devil's music" and of inciting violence and other poor behavior.

BB King, Buddy Guy and Tony Bennett are still performing today and recognized for their contributions to the jazz and blues communities and paved the way for modern day stars like Steve Winwood, Blues Traveller, Harry Connick Jr, and George Thorogood.

Formed in the early 20th Century in African-American communities in the Southern United States. Jazz & Blues music has since spawned a variety of sub-genres to encompass a vast majority of today's music.
