The NHL Heritage classic will be coming to Vancouver next year.
The classic outdoor match will take place March 2nd 2014 between the Vancouver Canucks and the Ottawa Senators.
The Vancouver Canucks will be the first NHL team to host the outdoor match in a retractable roof stadium.

Commissioner Gary Bettman had this to say
“With one of the world’s great facilities as the setting, and one of the world’s most scenic cities as the backdrop, the 2014 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic at BC Place in Vancouver will honor hockey’s Canadian heritage. With the excitement, the entertainment, the competitiveness and the fun of this game, the Canucks and Senators will create special memories for hockey fans everywhere.”

Bad news for fans hoping to get in cheaply though as tickets for next year’s game are abnormally high ranging from around $90 to $300 for the good seats. Due to the stadium layout what would normally be the front row seats are actually going for the cheapest price as they don’t allow a very good viewing angle. Currently the club seats and the upper areas of the lower bowl are being sold off at a premium.

Recently Vancouver Ticket business owner Kingsley Bailey was interviewed by CTV regarding the Heritage classic prices.

“I would have thought with the building being almost four times the size, that they didn’t have to go for the jugular and make as much money as they could,” Kingsley Bailey, of Vancouver Ticket, told CTV British Columbia.
The cheapest tickets for the game will cost fans $93, mid-level tickets are running for $177 and the most expensive seats are selling for $314.
Bailey said he worries that ticket sales to the game will be lower than anticipated because of the price.
“It’s not looking really, really good for a family of four to go to the game,” he said.

Despite the higher than normal prices tickets are still selling very well with the choice zones filling up quickly.
